Using Tidy
Tidy is an open source utility (http://tidy.sourceforge.net/) for cleaning up HTML with a wide range of available options. You can use Tidy with First Page 2006 either by accessing the most commonly used Tidy functions via the drop-down menu or via the entire application directly. The following commonly used functions are available:
Apply Source Formatting - Formats HTML code for easy reading.
Upgrade to Stylesheets - Remove all
<font>
tags and replace with CSS information.Convert HTML to XHTML - Convert an HTML document into XHTML.
Convert XHTML to HTML - Convert an XHTML document into HTML.
Convert to XML - Convert a web page to XML.
Convert Tag Case - Change all tags to either uppercase or lowercase characters.
Convert Tag Attribute Case - Change all tag attributes to either uppercase or lowercase characters.
Check Document Accessibility - Test the current document against web accessibility guidelines.
To use Tidy:
To use one of the commonly used Tidy functions:
Click on the Tidy > Tidy HTML Quick Tools menu option.
Click on one of the menu items described at the beginning of this topic.
To generate all tags as uppercase characters, click on the Output tags in Uppercase menu option.
To access all of Tidy's functionality:
Click on the Tidy > Tidy HTML Format and Fix... menu option.
Open as many of the horizontal bars as required and select the functionality you need. The Tidy HTML Power Tools window contains a description about each item.
